Episode 33

Sadly, Christians have developed this notion that since salvation is a work Jesus did apart from our involvement the only role you play is acceptance by faith! Most view salvation as something like this… “I prayed the prayer accepting the fact that Jesus died on the cross for my sins. I’m good.”

Since salvation is seen as nothing more than a receipt that gives a person a set of free tickets, passes, and vouchers to receive by faith it’s only logical that this “Grace, So I can do anything” distortion emerges!

Here’s how this mindset develops… “Jesus’ death provides me the atonement receipt that I can take to the Pearly Gates and exchange for the forgiveness ticket giving me open access to God’s throne… And since I’m now in the theme park of heaven it’s only logical I cash in this forgiveness ticket to procure my justification pass allowing me into the exclusive righteousness club…

Which once I’ve gained entry affords me the all access, no condemnation name tag so I can do whatever I want, because you know… I’m in the club, justified, forgiven, with all my sin atoned for by Jesus!”

And yet, the problem with all of this is that it overlooks the profound reality that every aspect of salvation occurs via a relational association with Jesus and is not a golden ticket your given! Salvation is not something you possess rather it’s something you experience.

Salvation demands an intertwining and fusing together of your life and Jesus’ by faith!Meaning grace really does change everything for one reason - You’ve been given a relationship with Jesus that saves!
