Episode 10

I’m struck by the reality that there are people who actually want to pervert the gospel of Christ… That when people warp the nature or purpose of God’s grace they are not doing so on accident, but are instead acting with specific intention!

So… Why do people willingly pervert the radical nature of God’s amazing grace? The truth is that all Gospel distortions have one fundamental commonality that provides the answer… Self! You see a central component of the true nature of grace alone is that it completely takes the power out of your hands.

For example… The grace and do these things distortion is appealing because it affords your involvement in procuring the favor of God. The grace but don’t do these things perversion appeals because it affords you a way to maintain a sense of moral superiority. Not to mention the grace so I can do anything warping is attractive because you can remain in control of your life.

You see the reality is that the True-Gospel of grace period is offensive to our human nature because it directly insults our pride and denigrates self. Fundamentally, grace declares you’re a sinner in need of being saved… There is nothing you can do to save yourself… And that once you’ve been saved there’s no way you can take credit for it!

I hope you understand, because of our constant battle with self, this compulsion to pervert the Gospel - to distort grace resides in all of us. Friend, if you’re struggling with these things consider… Do you want your relationship with Jesus, favor with God, and the continuance of these things based on your performance or His grace? For God’s grace really does change everything.
